Havies play as CH look on
by Ranjan Anandappa
Havelocks with a superior display beat CH and FC by 52 points (six
goals and two tries) to 18 (one goal, a try and two penalties) in a
lopsided Dialog 'A' division league rugby match played at Havelock Park
yesterday.
The winners led 45-8 at the breather.
Havelocks scored almost from the kick off when Maduranga Prasad
picked a gap and pierced through the CH defence to score an unconverted
try.
From there onwards it was the Park Club which dominated every minute
of the first half with an orgy of tries at times bringing the visiting
team to spectator status as the home team scored at will with no
resistance coming from the Maitland Crescent club.
Within the space of nineteen minutes in the first half Havelocks had
scored four tries with three conversions.
Madusanka Prasad planted the first two tries and Rimzie Jamaldeen
added the extra points.
Janitha Chathuranga put over a penalty for CH but the onslaught
continued as Havelocks piled on the points by constantly crossing the CH
try line.
Sandun Herath, Lasindu Nishan, Hirantha Perera, Nishon Perera, and
Prasad Madusanka were the try scorers for Havies.
Full back Rimzi Jamaldeen had a good day putting over six
conversions.
However, CH saved their blushes in the second half by restricting
Havelocks to a try by Danushka.
CH had the better of the exchanges during the dying stages of the
match when Lahiru Pravodh sneaked through to score with Janitha
Chaturanga adding the extra points.
Chathuranga also put over a penalty to make the final tally 52-18. |
