Finland keen on R and D in Lanka

The Finnish delegates with BOI officials.

A business delegation consisting of eight representatives of leading Finnish enterprises and banks visited the BOI to study Sri Lanka's business climate and the potential for investment.

The delegation was led by Ambassador of Finland to Sri Lanka Rauli Suikkanen. The Finnish institutes were the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, FIM, Duodecim, Future Group Oy and PAM.

The delegation was briefed by senior officials of the BOI who outlined the country's ease of doing business and strategies relating to investments. Finland is particularly interested in Research and Development and this area of investment is also of interest to the BOI as currently most investments into the country are involved in production rather than R & D.

The BOI was represented by Executive Director, Investment and Promotion, Ms. Renuka Weerakone, Director, Media and Publicity, Ms. Nilupul de Silva and Director, Promotion, Dilip Samarasinghe.
