CCC to sign MoU with Jordanian Chamber
The Jordanian Embassy will help Sri Lankan businessmen to obtain
quick visas to Jordan, provided it is recommended by the Ceylon Chamber
of Commerce (CCC), Jordanian envoy to Sri Lanka, Hassan M. Al Jawarneh
told members of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce when he met them to
discuss enhancing commercial ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
Chairman, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Samantha Ranatunga, CEO Mangala
P. B. Yapa and Senior Assistant Secretary General Mrs. Lilakshini de Mel
welcomed the Ambassador.
"We will issue visas for Sri Lankan businessmen, who wish to visit
Jordan within six hours, if the Ceylon Chamber recommends them," said
Honorary Consul of Jordan in Sri Lanka, Asgi Akbarally. His comments
were endorsed by the India-based Jordanian envoy.
He said despite forming various joint commissions and arrangements
between Sri Lanka and Jordan in the past, nothing much has taken place
between the two sides.
Chairman Ranatunga said, "During the past two years, the country has
become more friendly towards investors, which will help overseas
businesses to look at Sri Lanka."
The proposed MoU between the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the
Jordanian Chamber of Commerce was also discussed. The MoU, once signed
will enable both Chambers to work towards enhancing two-way business.
The MoU expected to be signed this year would be followed by business
delegations visiting each other.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce also invited Jordan to send a group of
investors to take part in the upcoming Sri Lanka Business Conclave and
Investor forum, which will start on March 8. |
