Palestine Minister meets Sri Lankan envoy

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in Palestine, Ms. Rula Maaya met Sri Lankan Ambassador to Palestine, Fawzan Anver and discussed many issues regarding tourism promotion between Sri Lanka and Palestine.

Since the political situation in Palestine affected tourism, 21 million tourists visited Palestine in 2015, while 3,562 Sri Lankans had visited the country she said. However, Palestinian tourists groups and travel agents promoted tourism to a great extent.

AmbassadorFawzan Anver highlighted the close and longstanding friendship existing between the two countries and the contribution by former Prime Minister, the late Sirimavo Bandaranaike and other political leaders on the Palestinian issue.

The Ambassador extended an invitation to the Minister to visit Sri Lanka in the near future
 

Conferred Fellow of the Institute of Bankers

Sundaram Vimalachandiran, Public Relations Manager of the Bank of Ceylon, Recovery Corporate Unit has been conferred with the Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (FIB Sri Lanka), at the annual graduation ceremony at the BMICH, Colombo.

An old boy of Central College, Jaffna, he counts 36 years of service in the Bank of Ceylon. He is a resource person and an Associate Faculty Member of the Central Training Institute of Bank of Ceylon. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Manipal University, India, and has postgraduate Executive Diploma in Bank Management from IBSL and associate member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL).

He contributes articles related to Banking in journals and newspapers.

Elected President-Sri Lanka Women's Conference 2016-2018

Sivanandini Duraiswamy was unanimously elected President of the Sri Lanka Women's Conferecne for 2016 - 2018, at the biennial Conference, which also marked the 82nd anniversary. It is the premiere women's organisation in Sri Lanka - an apex body with several member societies as its affiliates and a few regional bodies.
