St. Servatius take first innings lead

St.Servatisus College Matara took first innings lead against St. Thomas' College Matara on day two in their 116th 'Ruhuna Battle of the Blues' annual cricket encounter played at Uyanwatte Stadium Matara yesterday.

St.Servatius won the toss and elected to field. bowled out the Thomians for 230 in 66.1 overs. Raminda Pravinath struick a useful 83 runs off 68 deliveries with 16 boundaries . While. Tharusha Kavindya (45) and skipper Nimantha Kaveeshwara (38). Raminda Pravinath and Tharusha Kavindya were engaged in a 77 runs stand for 5th wicket. Right arm legspiner Chanuka Dilshan took 4 for 69 and Thilan Kumara took 2 wickets

St. Servatius were bowled out for 254 runs in 67.5 overs. Kavindu Umesh ( 80) off 125 deliveries with 10 boundaries. Ramesh Nimantha (58) Kavindu Umesh and Ramesh Nimantha added 83 runs for 5th wicket and a further 60 runs for the eight wicket between Kavindu Umesh and Rajantha Chandula.

Hashim Dilmal and Praveen Madhushan took 4 wickets apiece. St. Thomas were 48 for 2 in 32 overs at close on day two. Match will be continued today the third day

St. Thomas: 230 in 68.1 overs (Raminda Pravinath 83, Tharusha Kavindya 45, Nimantha Kaveeshwara 38, Chanuka Dilshan 5/73, Thilan Kumara 2/33) and 48/2 in 31 overs (Akila Thiwanka 17 n.o., Nipun Achalanka 15 n.o.)
