Ushan, Pramuka bag top honours at Katukurunda

Ushan Perera and Pramuka Sesath won the Best Driver and Best Rider trophies at the 10th “Rotherham Circuit Meet – 2016” one of the most exciting motor racing events in the country, organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force in collaboration with Sri Lanka Auto Sports Drivers Association (SLADA) concluded successfully at the Sri Lanka Air Force Unit in Katukurunda recently. More than 100 competitors participated in 18 events at the Meet which was worked off as the first meet for the Ceat-SLADA Trophy, 2016.

Ushan Perera with a superb display of driving skills won the SL-GT Cars up to 3500 cc both events while Pramuka Sesath won both M-STD/MOD 900-1000 cc and M-STD/MOD 250 cc 4T events.

SL-N Ford Lazer/Mazda 1300 and 1500 events were won by Kushan Peiris and Shenal Gunawardena respectively and experienced Upulwan, Prasanna and Chaminda were defeated by juniors in these events.

Experienced Pasindu Peiris won 1618cc SL/H event while Shehara Jayawardena won the second place.

She was the only woman driver who participated in the meet and Hansika Abeysinghe was the only woman rider.

Ushan, Kushan, Pasindu, Tyrone, Shenal, Parameshwaram and Sakeer excelled in motor car events and Pramuka, Soyel, Suraj, Shashika and Hansika showed their talents in motor cycle events.

The Rotherham Circuit Meet began in 2007 to commemorate Captain Hank Rotherham who was the first commander of Katukurunda Royal Navy Camp during Second World War ..
