JO goes ahead with May Day rally

The Joint Opposition (JO) yesterday confirmed its decision to hold a joint May Day rally at Kirulapone together with the Joint Council of Trade Unions.

The Joint May Day procession will commence from the Shalika grounds, Narahenpita. The police has given tentative approval for the route and the venue of the rally, MEP Leader and UPFA Colombo District MP Dinesh Gunawardena told the Sunday Observer yesterday.

The final arrangements of the rally were discussed at a meeting on Friday (April 8) attended by all constituent parties of the UPFA. Janatha Sevaka Party Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe who attended the meeting also confirmed participation at the rally.
