Sixteen-year-old’s last minute penalty helps Royal retain Bradby Shield :
Royal College staged a spectacular fight back where their 16-year-old full back
Ovin Askey put over a spectacular 30-metre corner flag penalty to help them
retain the Bradby Shield for yet another year.The second leg was won by Trinity College by a thrilling 18 points (2 tries, 1
conversion, 2 penalties) to 13 (1 try, 1 conversion, 2 penalties) in the 72nd
Bradby Shield clash between the two schools played at the Trinity Sports Complex
in Pallekelle, Kandy yesterday, but the overall aggregate of 35 each meant that
Royal kept the trophy at Reid Avenue. At half time Royal led 10-5.

LEICESTER: Dasun Shanaka the Sri Lanka number eight hit a brilliant century to
guide his team to a respectable first innings total of 367 on the second day of
their 3-day tour match against Leicestershire at Grace Road on Saturday.

College Kandy 57 points (9 tries, 6 conversions) To 7 ( 1 try, 1 conversion) in
their 29th L. E. Blaze Trophy inter- school ‘A’ Division league rugby tournament
match and thus regain the trophy after a lapse of several years. The match was
played at Royal Sports Complex, Reid Avenue yesterday. The winners led 26-0 at
half time.The match got off to a rousing start with both teams battling it out
