Ruth's thoughts

Liyana Ruth Perera is only eight years old and she recently launched a poetry book titled Thoughts of Ruth. The book was published by Vijitha Yapa Publications. Her poetry is mainly on themes from nature.

Her favourite poems are "If I were a bird", “Butterflies” and “Night Sky”. She says she likes to write poems because she likes reciting them. Liyana has won all Island prizes for the recitation of poetry and prose from the Academy of Performing Arts in Colombo.

Her parents and her teacher Ms. Dilani Fonseka encouraged her to write this collection of poems.

She also likes reading, swimming, athletics and basketball. She is a student of Horizon College International, Malabe. She says she would like to thank her parents, teachers, principal and Vijitha Yapa Publications.
