President Maithripala Sirisena said the Yahapalana Government was
well-established and will continue its full tenure despite the political
conspiracies to topple the government. "It will continue to rebuild the
country despite all obstacles it was facing at present" he said.
The President said the decision of the SLFP parliamentary group to
leave the government by 2017 was annulled and the SLFP as well as the
UNP had agreed to work together and complete the full term. The
President was speaking at the launch of the national mobile service
program held at Polonnaruwa Royal College.
The mobile service which covered almost 295 Grama Seva Divisions in
the Polonnaruwa District provided instant solutions to over 40,000
public grievances.
Deeds for places of worship in the Polonnaruwa District were
presented and Sisu Diriya Scholarships were also awarded to
beneficiaries.
The President said the Yahapalana Government was committed to perform
its duty by the people, despite the tremendous debt burden passed down
by the previous government.
The Government will face all challenges and a prosperous future will
be assured through right state policies and efficient management, he
said. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said "We are bound by a sacred
duty to serve the people. January 8, 2015 was a memorable day in that a
President was for first time was elected from Polonnaruwa to spearhead
the Yahapalana Government." "Today, social justice and democracy
flourish in the country. At the rate economic development was taking
place, one can be certain that at the and of our tenure, the people
could reap the dividends of a fully developed country.
