'Strokes at the Mews'
Leo Art is an artists-in-residence program designed to encourage
creativity in fine arts, by providing artists with a space to express
creative ideas, collaborate with agency teams on commercial projects and
be seen and appreciated by a wider audience.
As Leo Burnett Worldwide celebrates 81 years of creative leadership,
this program has been designed for the creative community of Sri Lankan
artists.
The latest edition of Leo Art titled 'Strokes at the Mews' will take
place on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, 7 at the Park Street Mews.
Special pooja at Slave Island on Wednesday
A special pooja will be held on August 3, 2016 at 8.00 a.m. at the
Arulmihu Sivasubramaniya Swamy Kovil, Slave Island, Colombo 2, to mark
the movement of planet Jupiter from Leo to Virgo, the previous day.
Nandadasa Kodagoda Memorial Oration on Aug.2
The 19th Nandadasa Kodagoda Memorial Oration will be delivered by the
Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board and Senior
Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, University of Colombo,
Prof. Ravindra Fernando on August 2 at 5.30 p.m. at the Sri Lanka
Foundation, Colombo.
The title of the oration will be 'Drug abuse in Sri Lanka - Its past,
present and the future.'
Prisons' special program
A special program on the services and duties the Prisons Department
will be telecast on Irida Ayubowan today (31) on Rupavahini Channel at
8.00 am.
The program will highlight functions and duties of the Department for
the inmates such as rehabilitation program, providing skilled training
programs on motor mechanism, carpentry, electrical, bakery, conducting
training programs on handicraft and, reading and writing program for
illiterate persons.
The program will also focus on Welikada Prison, Paboda Meth Sevana,
Ambepussa and Open Prison Camp in Pallekele. |
