A world of lullabies
Malabe Boys' Model School, conducted a program on lullabies from
different countries on July 22 at the Kahanthota Primary School to
provide greater knowledge to students about lullabies of different
countries. This program was organised as a part of projects under the
International School Award program organised by the British Council.
The program aims to link schools working towards the award with
partner schools across the globe, enabling them to work together on
joint projects that deal with global issues.
Students of Grade 7 sang lullabies of Africa, Russia, India and Sri
Lanka which made a distinct impression on all those present and it
improved the knowledge of students regarding lullabies sung in different
countries.
The Chief Guest was Dammi Kodikararachchi, Director of Music Sri
Jayawardanapura Education Zone. and Manager, British Council Schools
program Sahajeewa Meepage was the Guest of Honour.
Principal Sisira Gunarathna, Deputy Principal Saman Thilakasiri and
Assistant Principal Kahanthota Primary school Ramya Lansage too were
present. Deeptha Panagoda, Secretary of the school Development Society,
parents, teachers and students of neighbouring schools extended their
co-operation to make this event a success. The students were trained by
music teachers Eranga Silva and Ganga Vithanage. Co-ordinator Kushlani
Dabarera and Assistant Co-ordinator Chathurani Bogahawatta of the
International School Award Committee with the assistance of the
President of the Students ISA Committee Matheesha Palliyaguruge,
Secretary Chamil Udayanga and Treasurer Malika Madusith assisted in
making the event an enjoyable one.
