Program for children with special needs
An innovative School Holiday Program for Children with Special Needs has been
organised at St. Paul’s Church Hall Milagiriya on August 15, 16, and 17 ,
designed by the founder of Active Minds, Suzanne Dissanayake.
The program will be given to children between the ages of 5-16 years free of
charge.
“We intend including a percentage of normal children to foster healthy social
interactions, which will enhance the quality of life while developing a
supportive and caring network of friends and peers.” a spokesman for the
organisation said. The program will be conducted from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00p.m. each
day.
It will be facilitated by trained support workers who have experience working
with similar children.
The program is designed to provide challenging and stimulating opportunities for
the children comprising art and craft, games, singing, music and dancing, drama,
exercise, cookery, face painting, a magic show, fancy dress and many more.
For registration please call 075-5769988 on or before 5 August 2016.

attending normal schools. Special training programs for parents have been
designed to assist them in meeting the needs of these children. Counselling
services are also provided for parents and children to help sort out difficult
situations.
Most schools accommodate these children only up to 14 years. Active Minds
