Sanoj and Savindu help Bens

St Benedict's College Kotahena registered a four-wicket win over Maliyadeva College Kurunegala in their Inter-school Under-15 Division One second round cricket match played at the Maliyadeva College grounds recently.

St Benedict's won the toss and invited Maliyadeva to bat first. Maliyadeva scored 171 in 52.5 overs. A fine innings by Brian Chandrasena 54 runs and Imesh Gayantha 46 helped Maliyadeva. Savindu Sermina bowled best for St Benedict's taking seven wickets for 46 runs.

In reply, St Benedict's scored 173 with a top score of 57 n.o by Sanoj Thivanka 57 .Thivanka Savineth's 38 and Pasan Suwahas' 34 helped the Bens to record a four wicket win.

Chief scores:

Maliyadeva College: 171 all out in 52.5 overs (Brian Chandrasena 54, Imesh Gayantha 46, Savindu Sewmina 7-46).

St Benedict's College: 173-6 (Sanoj Thivanka 57 n.o, Thenuka Savineth 38, Pasan Suwahas 34, Oshana Jayawickrama 2-42, Imesh Gayantha 2-30).
