Matale Thomians retains shield

St Thomas’ College Matale retained the Eric Hulangamuwa challenge shield when they beat their counterparts from Mt Lavinia S. Thomas’ College 1-0 in the second annual hockey encounter played at the Astro turf hockey grounds at Reid Avenue yesterday.

The winning goal for the Matale Thomians came from H.L.C.A Silva who sounded the board in the first half. CCS Bandara of Matale Thomians took the best player’s award. The under 15 encounter between the two schools ended in a nil-all draw. DJ Peramune of St Thomas’ Matale was awarded the best player’s prize.
