<p>Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris met British Under Secretary of State for Trade Policy Gareth Thomas at his office in London. The Minister enlightened him about the present political and economic situation in the country. 

<p>He pointed out that the recent electoral victories secured by the Government in the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces indicate the political stability of the regime. It also reflected the public acceptance of Government policy.
