More females in Sri Lanka [September 18 2008]

Sri Lanka's female population has surpassed the male population dramatically, Department of Census and Statistics said today. The island's female population has risen to 51% of the total population.

Census and statistics department said that the total population in the country has reached to 19,887,000 by the end of August 2007. Statistics have also revealed that 60% of the total state workers are females. The total number of the female state workers stands at 481,000.
