Tharanga's 173 n.o pilots Sri Lanka 'A' to victory [September 25 2008]

Sri Lanka 'A' beat South Africa 'A' by 26 runs in their third one day 'international' concluded in East London last night. In reply to the visitors 335 for 3 in 50 overs, South Africa made 309 all out in 47.5 overs in the day-night game.

Opener Upul Tharanga carried his bat throughout the Sri Lanka 'A' innings as they scored a commanding 335 for 3 in 50 overs.

Electing to bat first, the visitors were given a solid start by Tharanga and Tharanga Paranavithana who added 91 runs for the first wicket in 15 overs. Tharanga made a majestic 173 not out off 149 balls with four sixers and 20 boundaries. Chief scores:
