Downloading sexual scenes to mobile phones banned [October 01 2008]

The Government has decided to impose a ban on downloading sexual scenes to mobile phones with immediate effect. National Child safety Authority Chairman Jagath Wellawaththa said that this decision was taken due to the rise in downloading sexual scenes to mobile phones among the children in the country.

According to the Chairman the government is to sign an agreement with the mobile phone companies banning such activities. Additionally a special monitoring division will also be appointed to observe the successful implementation of the process. A special telephone service will also be introduced to lodge complaints on downloading pornography on to mobile phones.
