Lewke unlikely to be replaced despite Sports Minister's meeting [October 08 2008]

Sri Lanka is unlikely to change its Rugby Union Test captain Dushanth Lewke, though the Sports Minister Gamini Lokuge has summoned the officials of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) for a special meeting on Friday.

Informed sources said Minister Lokuge is unlikely to change the selection committee decision to appoint Lewke. But Minister Lokuge is likely to warn Kandy SC over their subsequent withdrawal of 12 national poolists as a mark of protest against the appointment of the CR & FC forward who had resented Kandy Sports Club in the previous season.
