Three Lankans sentenced to death in Jeddah [October 13 2008]

Three Sri Lankans have been sentenced to death and three others were served with jail terms and lashings by a Jeddah Court yesterday for the crimes of robbery, sowing dissension on earth and threatening public order and peace.

Those sentenced to death were K.A.P. Gayan Uditha Nanayakkara, Thushara Dinesh Perera alias Isaac Christy Vedamanikkam and W.M. Nilantha Bandara Tennakoon. Meanwhile, P.R.M. Ranjith Wasantha Kumara, Ms. Noora Mohamed and Ms. Rajiya Abdul Samad were sentenced to 10 years, 4 years and 2 years imprisonment respectively as well as lashing after being found guilty of robbery and murder of a Yemeni Omar Yesiam in May 2007.
