Ten suspects including three Sri Lanka national athletes who were arrested over an alleged visa scam were further remanded till November 5 by the Colombo Fort magistrate. Counsel for the athletes told courts that their remanding would interfere with their training and prayed for bail.
Refusing the bail appeal, the magistrate said that since the complaint was lodged under the immigration and emigration law, it was unbailable. The magistrate further stated that only the Attorney general had the authority to grant bail in such cases.
