Fisheries Minister asks for a special license to buy oil [November 03 2008]

Ministry of Fisheries has sought permission from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) to buy fuel directly from the world market at lower prices. At a special press briefing held in Colombo today, Fisheries Minister Felix Perera said that he had already asked the Petroleum Minister to give a special license to buy fuel.

He went on to say that the fishermen in the country are suffering more difficulties due to the high oil prices in the country. "If the CPC could give the permission to us it is very a good sign for the fishermen," the Minister added. Fuel prices in the world market have fallen sharply following the global financial crisis.
