Lankan Tamils in Canada stop LTTE Suicide Bombers Day celebration [November 20 2008]

Sri Lankan Tamils in Canada averted an attempted LTTE propaganda event that was scheduled to be held at University of Oshawa (Durham College), Toronto on Tuesday. According to informed sources in Toronto, the Tamil Students Association of the College was the main organizer of the event, scheduled from 3-7 PM at the college premises.

"This student organization is under the strict influence of top LTTE terrorists in Canada. They have misled the College authorities that the scheduled event was a cultural show", our sources said.

Speaking further the sources said that pro-LTTE MP Mano Ganshan was to deliver the keynote address at the function. "The real aim of the event is to celebrate the annual Suicide Bombers Day of the LTTE. The MP was sponsored by the LTTE to Canada in order to give a fund raising boost to the terror outfit", he said.

Sri Lankan Consulate General in Toronto too was notified of the true nature of the event and the matter brought to the notice of the College authorities. A large number of Sri Lankans living in Canada, including a large number of Tamils, had sent emails to the college authorities requesting them to cancel the event, following which the event was cancelled.
