The Indian Coast Guard on seized a Sri Lankan boat, which was found abandoned at Nadutheru shore near Dhanushkodi. This is a second such incident reported at Dhanushkodi within two days. Like the previous one, no one has come forward to claim ownership of the boat.
The engine was missing but the boat was found buried in a sand dune. Authorities retrieved it after great difficulty. Intelligence agencies such Intelligence Bureau, Coastal Security, Q- branch CID later inspected the boat. It was not immediately known how it reached the shore and how many persons landed at Dhanushkodi.
The boat was later towed to the Coast Guard station at Mandapam, where the authorities carried out a separate examination.
