Thai protesters enter main airport control tower [November 26 2008] Officials at Thailand's main airport say several anti-government protesters armed with metal rods entered the control tower, demanding the prime minister's flight schedule. Group Capt. Chokchai Saranon, a control tower official, said in Bangkok today that 50 protesters demanded to enter the control tower at Suvarnabhumi Airport but only three were allowed up by security officials. However, since the airport was shutdown early Wednesday, there were no controllers in the tower. The protesters, who are among thousands who stormed Suvarnabhumi late Tuesday, eventually left. Their siege has forced the airport to cancel hundred of flights Wednesday and left thousands of passengers stranded.
