Prabhakaran cancels birthday celebration as troops advance to his doorstep [November 26 2008]

Aging LTTE leader Velupillai Prabkaran has been forced to cancel his traditional birthday celebrations as the Security Forces have reached his doorstep. Pro-LTTE websites reported that Prabhakaran, who turns 54 tomorrow, has ordered to cancel the celebrations which LTTE connects to their annual Mahaveer (heroes) day.

Prabhakaran is unlikely to appear in public as the Security Forces are set to capture the LTTE stronghold of Kilinochchi any moment.

The fall of Kilinochchi is imminent as Troops of Task Force 3 operating east of Mankulam have gained total control over the Olumadu village last evening, located 4Km northeast of Mankulam along the Mankulam - Mullaittivu (A-34) main road, reaching to a significant stage in the Wanni liberation operation, which is another blow to the LTTE's sagging moral.
