Hillary Clinton in India

New Indo-US strategic partnership will be launched to mark the five-day visit of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to India from today. Her first port of call will be Mumbai. This is her second visit; her earlier visit was as the first lady during the Clinton Presidency.

The new Indo-US strategic partnership will be the ?most wide- ranging? strategic dialogue between the two countries, Hillary Clinton said on the eve of her departure for India. It (the dialogue) will cover foreign policy, strategic challenges, and other issues of concern like health, and education, and agriculture and the economy.

Saying that she would not like to prejudge, the Secretary of State said everything is on the table to discuss as she goes about strengthening and broadening the strategic partnership between New Delhi and Washington.

”We believe India has a tremendous opportunity and a growing responsibility, which they acknowledge, to play not just a regional role but a global one as well. How they choose to define, that we will explore in-depth during the course of our discussion”, Clinton said.
