Sanga to reach 7,000-run milestone

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara is set to complete 7,000 runs in Test cricket as the second day’s play in the third and final Test against Pakistan resumes at SSC grounds today. The 31-year-old from the hill capital needs only a further 80 runs to reach this great milestone. Having represented Sri Lanka in 82 Tests prior to the current third Test, the wicket keeper batsman has so far aggregated 6,920 runs at an attractive average of 54.48. Sangakkara, who has so far scored 18 centuries, including a career best knock of 287, could well join the 7,000-run club before the current three-Test series against Pakistan ends on Friday.
