Mark Rogerson brands high-strength Lankan beer

Mark Rogerson has created the branding for new high-strength Sri Lankan beer Grand Blonde. Rogerson says he has been working with the Sri Lankan client, McCallum Brewery Company, for almost ten years, since meeting the founder in Hong Kong. Rogerson also developed the branding for the brewery itself. Rogerson says the only brief for the Grand Blonde brand was that the client ‘quite fancied an elephant’. The designer also developed a GB marque, in which the acronym resembles Sinhalese lettering. He says he chose the black, red and gold colour scheme to reflect the strength of the beer, which is 8.8 per cent and available in 500ml cans. The Grand Blonde beer goes on sale in Sri Lanka in the next couple of weeks
