Many flights cancelled due to volcanic ash

Aviation Authorities request the public to refrain from arriving at the Airport without inquiring from the relevant travel agents as a number of flights between Sri Lanka and Europe have been cancelled. They say that this decision was taken due to the prevailing smog over European countries as a result of the activation of a volcano in Iceland.

Duty Manager of the Airport said that the flight number UL 563 and UL 501 scheduled to fly to London has been cancelled and the flight from London due to arrive in Sri Lanka at 4.55 a.m. is now rescheduled to touch down at 10.15 a.m. Therefore passengers are requested to make inquiries from their travel agents before reaching the Airport.
