No human rights violations by Sri Lanka Military

[June 08 2010]

The Sri Lankan Military had not violated human rights at any time. This has been emphasized by Defence Secretary Gothabaya Rajapaksa joining in “Hard Talk” telecast by the BBC.

He said Sri Lanka’s Military was highly disciplined. There was not a single case of soldiers marching into a village and indiscriminately opening fire and killing anyone. War crimes is when anyone walks into a place and opens fire indiscriminately sans any control and kill innocent civilians or walks into a place and rape. This has never happened. No complaints of this nature had been received. The Defence Secretary underscored that restrictions were imposed on the use of heavy weapons. He queried as to where in the world such a thing had happened.
