The container blast at the Karadiyanaru, Batticaloa a short while ago has killed 60, including two Chinese nationals and injured several others, Military spokesman Major General Ubhaya Medawala said.
The container full of explosives got blasted while it was shifted. The explosives were to be used to blast a rock for construction work. The container belonged to a Chinese company which had undertaken development work in the East.
The injured have been admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.
