With economic and political stability established after ending the 30-year war against terrorism, the International Monetary Fund  (IMF) has approved another tranche amounting to US$ 213 million of the US$ 2.6 billion facility granted to Sri Lanka.

The Central Bank Governor Ajith Niward Cabral said Sri Lanka will receive US $ 213 million on Monday.

The IMF in a statement said it has taken the decision to provide the facility as ‘Sri Lanka’s performance under the program has been satisfactory’.

“Overall economic conditions are improving, and the economy is likely to show strong growth this year on the back of improved fundamentals and political stability,”  it has stated.
