The Gangodawila Magistrate remanded six students of the Sri Jayawardenapura university who allegedly assaulted a fellow second year student at the Wimaladharma hostel yesterday.
The suspects were arrested by the Mirihana police following a complaint made by the assaulted student, the police Media Spokesman SP, Prashanta Jayakody told the Sunday Observer.
Police said they are searching for some others who also assaulted the student. The victim who sustained serious injuries has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kalubovila hospital. Mirihana police are investigating further the incident.
