Over 7,300 ex-LTTE cadres registered for jobs     [September 30 2010]

Over 7,300 ex-LTTE cadres under rehabilitation were registered for jobs at the first ever mega job market held at the Pompemadu Rehabilitation Centre in Vavuniya, yesterday.

The private sector representing over 17 companies in the garment, computer and construction sectors educated the rehabilitatees on the available job opportunities. “These inmates are being released in batches and they can contact the relevant companies for jobs later as they have already registered with the companies”, Commissioner General Rehabilitation Brig. Sudantha Ranasinghe said.   During the final days of the battle against the LTTE in May 2009, over 11,000 LTTEers, including child soldiers, surrendered to the military. They, who are under rehabilitation, are given vocational training and released in batches.
