Permanent market for pavement hawkers [October 02 2010]

The Colombo Municipal Council is going to construct a permanent alternative place to accommodate the pavement hawkers in the hospital square around the Colombo National hospital, Colombo Municipal Council Special Commissioner Omar Kamil told the Sunday Observer online.

According this new centre similar to that of the centre created at Bodhiraja Mawatha, Pettah to accommodate the pavement hawkers.

"The new centre at Norris Canal will have the capacity to accommodate 225 pavement hawkers", he said.
