Maris Stella College Negombo and Sumana Balika MV Ratnapura clinched the Boys and Girls overall title respectively at the All Island National Schools Games athletic meet which concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium today.
Maris Stella College collected a total of 113 points to finish well ahead of Ratnayake MV Walalla (103) and Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa who were placed second and third respectively.
Sumana Balika MV were the clear winners in the girls overall championship with a tally of 133 points. They were followed by Ratnayake MV Walalla (109)and St. Joseph’s College Kegalle (67). Maris Stella College also bagged the boys relay championship with a total of 48 poinst which helped them to finish ahead of their closest rival Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa (32) and Anuradhapura MV (15) respectively.
However the girls relay championship went to Ratnayake MV Walalla who edged out Sumana Balika MV by collecting a total of 29 points. Sumana Balika MV managed only 24 points and Anuradhapura MV were placed third with 19 points.
Meanwhile Western Province clinched the overall championship while collecting 798 points. They were followed by Central Province (368), Sabaragamuwa Province (289), North Western Province (181) North Central Province (167) and Southern Province (134).
