Residents along the banks of the Kelani river are being advised to be vigilant as the heavy rain resulted increasing water level. They have been cautioned on a possible flood situation and immediate evacation, if necessary.
Apart from Kelani river, flood threat looms in some of the areas as the Kalu and Nilwala rivers and Attanagalu Oya water levels were rising, the Disaster management Centre warned a short-while ago.
Kelani River has already overflowed in Malwana and Biyagama areas after heavy downpour and the DMC is monitoring the situation closely.
