The heavy rain in most parts of the island has left several hundreds of people homeless and the situation is becoming more serious after heavy showers today.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights said they are geared to meet any crisis situation and that necessary steps have been taken to provide immediate relief to the people affected by the heavy rains currently experienced in the country.
Minister A.H.M. Fowzie said today that necessary steps have been taken to immediately supply flood relief to people affected by floods and landslides due to the heavy rains. He added that Assistant Government Agents (AGA) offices and Government Agents offices have been informed of the Ministrys moves and that there was no shortage of funds allocated for disaster relief.
