Rs. 80 million for flood relief

<p>The government has allocated over Rs. 80 million for flood relief, the Minister of Disaster Management A.H.M. Fowzie said.
 
<p>Over 2,050 people in 595 families have been affected by the rains in Gampaha, Galle, Nuwara Eliya and Matale districts. 
 
<p>Eight people died due to lightning and collapsing of houses. Thirty four houses have been damaged and 84 houses damaged partly.
 
<p>Minister Fowzie said Rs. One million had been released to provide flood relief in the Galle district. Each family was given food and dry rations for a week and compensation for the damage suffered.
 
<p>“ The Treasury  has agreed to release more money if there is an urgent requirement for flood relief”, he said.
