Prince Charles dances with locals in India [October 06 2010]

Accompanied by the former ruler of Jodhpur, Gaj Singh, The Prince of Wales toured villages on the outskirts of the city to observe water conservation efforts in the area. He was briefed about the initiatives undertaken by a local voluntary group, the Jal Bhagirathi Foundation, for water harvesting and conservation.

The Water Resource Centre is used by the Jal Bhagirathi Foundation to train local people how to manage their water resources. The foundation has helped give 300-thousand people in 220 villages access to drinking water. One of the Princes charities, the British Asian Trust, supports joint projects with the British NGO (non-governmental organisation), Wells for India, and the Jal Bhagirathi Foundation. Then villagers showcased rural culture for the visiting prince, who was not shy in joining them as they danced to the rhythm of local folk music. The Prince of Wales was in India to inaugurate the Commonwealth Games that opened in New Delhi on Sunday.
