Sri Lanka will be able to generate nuclear energy by 2020 if we accelerate the program said Chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority Prof.W.Abewickrama.

The average accepted time frame for a developing country to complete a nuclear power project is 10 to 15 years and the fastest implementation has been done by Japan and it took seven years to complete a similar project.

We have appointed a steering committee and started pre-feasibility studies. Feasibility study will be started soon and to be completed by 2012, Prof.Abeyewickreme said.(GW)
