Sri Lanka achieved best indicators despite the conflict - Kohona     [October 07 2010]

Sri Lanka achieved the best indicators - child and maternal health and access to primary health care in South Asia despite the prolonged conflict situation and facing the global  financial crises, the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to UN Dr. Palitha Kohona  said.

Addressing the General Debate of the Second Committee of the 65th United Nations General Assembly, New York, he said home-grown development strategies had brought successful in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

“The best indicators for Sri Lanka’s achievements are a credit to its political institutions, its caring cultural attitudes and the impact of its mature democracy, Dr. Kohona emphasized.
