Anoma must seek presidential pardon – Wimal [October 07 2010]

Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa today urged wife of former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa and seek a pardon for her jailed husband.

“She should stop eating dead ropes given to her by the UNP and the JVP and ask for a pardon.  It is the only way he can be freed,” Minister Weerawansa said in Parliament today while speaking on the No-Confidence Motion against External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris.

He said both the UNP and JVP had dragged Fonseka into politics and were responsible for the situation he has faced today.  They should be ashamed of the manner in which they are continuing to use Fonseka and his family.
