Ambepitiya exits in men’s 100m semi finals   [October 07 2010]

Sri Lanka’s Shehan Ambepitiya was placed eighth in the men’s 100m semi final and failed to secure in the final at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi today. He clocked 10.48 seconds. His timing was slower than the career best mark of 10.31seconds in the first round heats on Wednesday.   

Jamaica’s Lerone Clarke, was crowned as the fastest man at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, clocking 10.12 seconds in the men’s 100m final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. A member of champion 4 X 100m relay team at the 2009 Berlin World Championships, Clarke cruised towards the finish line, with England’s Lewis Mark Anthony (10.20 seconds) in the second place. Trinidad and Tobago’s Aaron Armstrong (10.24 seconds) bagged the bronze.

Chandrika Subhashini Rasnayake ran a seasonal best in the women’s 400m semi-final with a 52.97 seconds, but failed to qualify for the final. She was placed fourth but fought hard towards the end of the lap.
