Murali to play in IPL even after retirement  [October 10 2010]

Muttiah Muralitharan, who announced that he would retire from international cricket after next year’s World Cup, would continue to play for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League for at least two more years.

“I have played cricket at the top level for almost two decades. Now I think it’s time to give way to the youngsters. I will play the one-dayers in Australia and of course, the World Cup at home. I have decided to quit international cricket completely after that,” Muralitharan was quoted as saying.

But he has made it clear that he will continue to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) at least for the next couple of years. He also hopes to retain his spot in the team even after the new auction. “But, if I get picked by any other team in the auction, I will give my best for it. After all, I am a professional cricketer,” he said.
