CGames Rugby: Sri Lanka lose to Australia and Uganda [October 11 2010]

Sri Lanka lost all three group ‘D’ matches to England, Australia and Uganda in the Commonwealth Games seven-a-side rugby championship begun in New Delhi today.

Following the humiliating 7-59 defeat at the hands of England in the morning session of play today, Sri Lanka also suffered two heavy defeats against Australia 5-42 and Uganda 5-35. Sri Lanka scored a try each in all three matches.

Australia scored six goals in the second game to crush Sri Lanka by 42 points to 5 after leading 35-0 at half time. But the second half was evenly contested with both Australia and Sri Lanka scoring a try each.  

Uganda joined the massacre to thrash Sri Lanka by 35 points to 5 in the third match concluded a short while ago. Uganda, which led at 21-5 at half time, collected their points from five goals.
