PNG beat Sri Lanka 12-26 in bowl quarters [October 12 2010]

Papua New Guiana beat Sri Lanka by 26 points to 12 in their Commonwealth Games rugby sevens bowl championship quarter final match played in New Delhi today. The scores were tied seven-all at half time but Sri Lanka failed to maintain the same form after the shirt whistle.

The Papua New Guiana scored three tries in the second half tom make the difference. The winners collected their points from three goals and a try while Sri Lanka had a solitary goal.

It was Sri Lanka’s fourth successive defeat in the Commonwealth Games seven-a-side rugby championship, having suffered three humiliating defeats at the hands of England 7-59, Australia 5-42 and Uganda 5-35 in yesterday’s qualifying round matches.
