Majority Tamils in US want to rebuild Lanka [October 15 2010]

Majority of Tamil Diaspora in the US want to contribute to rebuild Sri Lanka and waiting to visit the country after many years, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jaliya Wickremasooriya said.

Addressing the media he said nearly 2,000 Tamils out of over 50,000 Tamil populations in the US still propagate anti Lankan activities in the US to keep the LTTE ideology moving.

Wickremasooriya said the continuous dialogue with the Tamil Diaspora by the Sri Lankan Embassy in the US helped to prevent fund raising by the pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora in the US.

“I have personally visited them in Boston, Atlanta, Chicago and other cities in the US and tried to convince them about the LTTE’s futile efforts to divide the country. Many said they want to be a part of the development process taking place in the North”, he said.
